How does the adjustable vacuum advance work on a high compression NA motor? Can someone explain this. Thanks.

I just want the new monitor guage. I hate the fact that on my unit the rich is red and so is the knock retard. When I see red lights out of the corner of my eye I don't know if I'm running rich or I have detonation without taking my eyes off the road. The new way is better. Green will be lit when its rich so there is no confusion when you're trying to keep your eye on the road/tach.
Actually it would be ideal if they made the knock retard monitor a color that is not represented on the guage. Perhaps a violet color so there is no confusion at all.

It looks like this unit also allows you to alter the timing with respect to load on an NA motor. When you raise the compression of your stock motor you reduce the amount of timing advance it needs under load. On the other hand you don't necessarily want to run less timing for cruising and light loads. So, you leave your timing stock and let the J&S pull out timing depending on how low the vaccuum goes; lower vaccuum means higher load. It's similar in concept to boost retard, just below atmospheric pressure rather than above.
This new version really addresses a number of critical tuning issues faced by anyone who's serious about safely getting the most out of their modified car.

Marc,
Don't overlook the potential of that new display unit. The "power" mode reduces the granularity of the A/F gauge. Maybe not as accurate as a wideband, but should provide a lot better feedback as to what's going on when we're tuning fuel on the fly. I'm definitely going to buy one of those when they're available.

Yes, because I think J&S still uses PWM (pulse width modulation) to control the knock LED's.

In light of the introduction of the new model, does anyone want to get rid of their old model J&S? It would need to be in excellent condition, and be compatible with a Haltech equipped DSM.
And no, I don't want to pay $400 for it
Matt
